A Manual J report must be provided by your installer in order to receive a whole-home rebate. This report helps to accurately determine the sizing and design needs of your home. Doing so helps to prevent common issues associated with improperly sized equipment and helps to ensure that the system will perform effectively.
  • To be considered a whole-home heat pump solution, the system must be designed to condition 100% of the home's living space by volume and supply between 90-120% of the heating load at the correct design temperature for the home's location. A Manual J calculation is the best practice for determining the heating load. The correct design temperature and accurate building attributes must be included in the Manual J for an accurate heating and cooling load determination. A Manual J report must be provided by your installer in order to receive a whole-home rebate.

Systems that condition 100% of the home's living space, but supply less than 90% of the home's heating load at the design temperature are partial heat pump solutions. Systems that supply more than 120% of the home's heating load at the design temperature may be oversized. Oversizing can potentially cause performance issues and decreased operating efficiency (higher operating cost).
